Terms of Service

These terms describe what ARETE is, what it is not, and the responsibilities that come with using it. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These terms govern your use of ARETE. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use ARETE.

ARETE is operated by an individual based in India. It is not a registered company. You can reach us at support@getarete.in.

2. What ARETE is

ARETE is a self-tracking and analytics tool for competitive-exam preparation. It records focus sessions, syllabus progress, mock results and mistakes that you enter or generate, and turns them into analytics, insights and recommendations.

ARETE is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Testing Agency, the IITs, or any examination authority, coaching institute or publisher. It does not provide official exam information, question papers, results or registration services.

3. Eligibility

ARETE is intended primarily for users aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you may use ARETE only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.

4. Your account

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, and for keeping your password confidential.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • One account is for one person. Do not share your account or let someone else use it.
  • Tell us promptly at support@getarete.in if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

5. Acceptable use

When using ARETE, you agree not to:

  • Break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to upload, including copyrighted question papers or material belonging to a coaching institute or publisher.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data.
  • Probe, scan, disrupt or overload the service, bypass rate limits, or interfere with its security features.
  • Scrape the service, or use automated means to create accounts or submit data.
  • Deliberately submit false data in order to distort community statistics, or otherwise manipulate features intended to reflect genuine activity.
  • Post abusive, misleading or unlawful content in reviews or any other user-visible field.
  • Resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the service or its output without permission.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you put into ARETE — your notes, results, uploads and reflections. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you: to store, process and display that content back to you, and to generate analytics from it.

If you submit an in-app review, you agree that it may be displayed publicly within ARETE along with its display label.

You are responsible for the legality of what you upload. We may remove content that appears to breach these terms.

7. Analytics, predictions and AI output

ARETE's analytics, scores, projections and AI Coach responses are generated from the data you enter. They are informational only.

In particular, any rank, percentile or performance projection is an estimate based on your own inputs, not a prediction of your actual exam result, and not a guarantee of any outcome. Nothing in ARETE is academic, career, financial, medical or psychological advice. Decisions you make about your preparation remain yours.

Data you enter incorrectly will produce misleading analysis. ARETE cannot verify the accuracy of what you record.

8. Cost

ARETE is currently free to use. There is no paid tier, no subscription and no payment system in the product at this time.

If paid features are introduced in future, we will describe them clearly before they apply, and using ARETE as it exists today will never retroactively create a charge.

9. Availability and changes

ARETE is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any level of uptime, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance, provider outages or failures outside our control.

We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time, and may discontinue the service. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice before a change that would significantly affect how you use ARETE or would remove access to your data.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using ARETE at any time and delete your account permanently from Settings.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, is used to abuse the service, or creates a security or legal risk. Where appropriate and practical, we will explain why.

Deleting your account permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy, and cannot be undone.

11. Intellectual property

The ARETE name, interface, design and software are owned by the operator. These terms do not transfer any ownership in them to you; you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service.

This does not affect your ownership of your own content, as set out in section 6.

12. Disclaimers

ARETE is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its analytics will be accurate or suitable for any particular purpose.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important. You can export a report of your data from Settings at any time.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, study time, opportunity, marks or exam outcomes, arising from your use of or inability to use ARETE.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current revision. If a change is material, we will make a reasonable effort to make it clear within the app. Continuing to use ARETE after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.
